Nothing, Zero Zip...

Nothing has happened up at the house block.
Rain has been the main factor as the house can't be water proofed until the ground is bone dry.
I have spoke to the builder today and he will be on site as of tomorrow so hopefully it will start to come together soon.
In the mean time i am trying to choose kitchen bench/vanity colour. Do i have high gloss or a satin finish. Do  i use Vivid white or Antique white USA in Dulux.
As most of you know i am incorporating timber throughout the house, including out door beams and the stair case & front door. So i am after that fresh but warm white.
Please comment if you have any suggestions. Once i have chosen the colour i then can carry on and choose the ceaserstone bench colour etc...

On the week end we ventured up to Caloundra. Our boys were in the State Championships.
It was a fun time for them. They both made the semi-finals. The kids were disappointed but still were happy that they gave it their all and were unlucky to miss out on a Grandfinal game.

Stupidly we left at 3pm and hit Bruce Hwy traffic at 4pm peak hour Friday afternoon.

We amused ourselves by watching the lady in front of us fold clothes.

Our Jack is number 8

Here is James in deep thought. He is next to the lady in the blue top

James Number 2
A long story (for another day) We ended up staying at Twin Waters Novotel as the accomodation that we had booked in at Caloundra wasn't what the website protrade.

We have stayed here many times and the kids love it. Just wished we didn't have to go back to the OzTag carnival the next day as we only just settled in.
So we headed back to Caloundra on Sunday morning around 10am as the first game wasn't till 11am. Then as the kids went out in the semi's, it was time to head home again.

I think Jack is thinking of what couldv'e been.
Always next year,

Just as i said the builder will be on site tomorrow. It is about to storm.

  1. Hi Pen, You're not alone with the stormy weather frustration! I'll weigh in on your colour options: Vivid White is the purest white available from Dulux and is an untinted white; not warm nor cold. Antigue White USA is warm, quite creamy in comparison and often looks best in traditionally styled homes. It could look great as you're featuring timber but I'd suggest White on White or Natural White (Both Dulux) as other options. Go get some sample pots and do big test patches to compare. I think there have been several discussions about 'perfect' whites on various blogs. (Did AM do one?). A google search might yield more discussion. Oh, and the Twin waters looks great!

  2. And satin is easier to clean, less fingerprints than the gloss. ;-)

  3. Oh I have been where you have been but my building site was empty even on sunny days. It was so stressful... hence the reason I will never use my lazy builder again. I am with you on the warm whites... especially with timber accents. I'm not a gloss fan. I had a matt satin. Lovely photos of your weekend. A-M xx

  4. Love, love, love Twin Waters. It is one of our favourite places to stay!

With regards the white for the cabinetry - have you chosen a general wall colour yet?

  5. For a contemporary home I would choose gloss cabinetry. Also, gloss finish is a lot easier to buff out the scratches out of and touch up the chips... Especially handy if you plan on staying in this house for longer and/or you have kids :)

We went with Vivid White for our kitchen cabinetry and will be doing the same for the rest of the bathroom vanities. It's a pure white with no tint - goes with everything :)

PS. Did you get the drawings I emailed you last week?
