Well i think this is how the kids may be getting home from school today (in a boat), this rain isn't giving up or going away any time soon.
A lot of the schools have closed due to the weather however not our school, thank GOD!
Just as you think it has stopped down it comes again.
A good time to send the kids out the back Cane Toad hunting i guess.

AND as for the house. It is fairing pretty good. I am very happy with the lay of the land as the run off isn't pouring into the house cut as bad as i thought.
I spoke to the builder today and as soon as this rain goes they are
ready to hook in. He will go up on Monday and get the pump into any
water that is still laying around the house and hopefully most of it will have
cleared up and they can get stuck into it through out next week
I have drawn up an idea of how i would like my Laundry to look.

| The top pic is looking out to the back yard and the bottom pic is the other side (obviously). I think having the 5 open spaces will be good for each family members folding & ironing pile. That way i can get them to come and collect their own stuff and it is still up and out of the way if they don't. |

The rain is a good test to see waterflow around the new build! Love your kitchen and laundry ideas. We all had a drawer for clean clothes ready to be taken to rooms in our last laundry but my daughters ended up using the laundry as their private WIR as they often had more clothes there than in their own rooms; just a thought!

Glad to hear that you're happy with the water running off from the slab. We noticed that at our block today as well. Made me happy, even though all I really want is for the rain to disappear altogether!!
ReplyDeleteAlso glad to see that you've made your appliance choices! I like the laundry layout, and especially the idea of each person having their own nook! I fold washing on the couch, so they have to take it to their rooms if they want to sit down!!!!

Where is all this water coming from, the rain is just not stopping! I have now learnt what the wet season is, I'm living in the middle of it! haha
ReplyDeleteThat is good to see that all the runoff is getting away well and not under your house! We brought in the middle of last years floods, so we knew what to expect! Luckily. It would freak a lot of people out though!
Still very impressed with your 3D drawings, they are spot on! I love the idea of the 5 nooks in the laundry, it will be one organised spot. Your view out that massive window will be amazing! Only thing missing is a place for the cleaning lady! lol I wish they came standard with all homes! Oh to dream!
The bar area, above the cellar is a fantastic idea, there are sooo many great looks. A friend of ours did one of these, it has become the gathering spot at their house, it's right next to the kids rumpus room, of course the kids get ousted and the adults take over!
Hope that the rain stops soon, so we can all get back to our building!
