Our boy Jack turned 12.
Our boy Jack turned 12 on Thursday 29th March. He was a year 2000 born baby.
He loves to sleep in, hates eating breakfast, best time of day is when the afternoon school bell rings, loves footy training & game days, loves the girls, he is a good friend and loves a big steak and vegie for dinner. Most of all he kisses his mum (me) every night before he goes to bed.
He lives breaths and if he could, would eat football. So when asked "What do you want for your birthday Jack?" His reply is - "A Mount Franklin Breast Cancer Football, a Toyota Cup ball (which i couldn't find), SKINS, Head Gear, itunes card, money, All Stars jersey, State of Origin tickets, NRL Grand final tickets....as u can see just anything football. He didn't get all of what he asked but was still very happy with his presents.
It is no big deal to Jack if he has a birthday party or not. He had a huge party last year so this year he was cool when we told him that he wasn't having one.
He just asked if he could have a cold rock bday cake and KFC for dinner - which is weird considering he sits on the toilet for hours after eating KFC.
After school he wanted to go buy new SKINS for footy. He choose the cream colour, I just held my breath and brought him what he wanted as it was his birthday money.
My kids all get a lolly jar on their birthdays and i sometimes just give this as a gift to other kids and it is crazy how much they just love it.
Happy12th Birthday Jack.

Something different
I thought i would post an up date on where the house is up to.
I go up to the block most mornings after i have dropped the kids to school and normally find no change.
Today was slightly different.
The water proof guys had finished the back section.Yippie (did a little dance)
However when it comes to the waterproofing of this section it is a different story.
They need to cut more out of the original cut as it is to close to the besser blocks and they cant get in there to waterproof. Arhhhh, this is supposedly being dug out tomorrow! Fingers crossed.
In the mean time i will continue to go up every couple of days in the hope of seeing "something different".
Chin up, as they say tomorrow is a better day,
Pen ;)

Daisy Dog
Daisy is a dog. I tell her every day.
We brought Daisy from a local Pet shop in Burleigh in Oct 2007.
I walk her morning and most afternoons and i can take her off the lead and she will still stay by my side. Never runs off.
I get asked all the time from other dog owners,
"how did i teach her to walk next to me without running off"
I am not sure really how i did it. But, as i work from home she has never been away from me for long periods of time. When she was a puppy i never let her off the lead when i walked her. I haven't really put much time into her in any other way. She has never been taught how to sit or beg or lay etc...
I don't fluff over Daisy at all. I give her no attention, she gets it from every one else in the family. She just knows, what i say goes with her. ( i just wished i was as tough on the kids as i was with her and maybe they too would do as they are told)
Her breed is Father: Shitzu & Mother: Bishon Frize x Poddle
Which has ended up with what is called a Daisy Dog - Exclusively By Jennifer Peterson.
“Here’s what it is…..” The Daisy Dog is a specific blend of several, small non-shedding breeds originating within my family in the late 1950’s. It has taken many generations to incorporate a very specific blend of several purebreds to accomplish this unique result.
“Here’s what it isn’t…..”
It is not a purebred. I absolutely have nothing against purebreds. They are the basis of my Daisy Dogs. I do, however, feel that many purebred breeds have been damaged through the generations by wrongful breeding.
It is not a “designer dog.” This new craze to create anything that sells has been spawned by the media and has exploded out of control. I remember a time when things were done slowly and carefully with much pride. In this new “designer dog” era there is a rush to take advantage of the current market. Any reputable breeder (who truly cares about the breed they love) would shudder at the idea of their breed being called a “designer dog” because this is a current fad – what’s cool and popular for the moment - a passing fancy. Even though people seem to want the latest trend, I intend to continue on my path - slowly and carefully, with much pride. I place the importance of compatibility with the family over and above what is “in” this year. I am in this for the long haul.
It is not a “Heinz-57” or mixed breed of unknown origin - there is nothing wrong with “mutts.” (I am very pro-rescue!) Some of the best dogs in the world are mixed breeds - however, as a breeder, I must know exactly what breeds are in the background of my dogs to be able to represent them properly. This is necessary to prevent surprise throwbacks!
It is not just any old mix, nor is it two breeds bred together just to see how it turns out. It is not just a whim to “make puppies” or get a fast buck. When people ask me, “Aren’t they just a glorified mutt?” I don’t take offense; I just hope they understand the thought, time, and expense that has been invested through the years for this very specific purpose. It is a very well-planned mixed-breed or specialized mutt, if you will.
In a nutshell: Daisy Dogs are very loving, family companions developed and known for their personality, intelligence, irresistible looks, predictable size, varied colors, sturdiness, health and longevity. Not to leave out the fact that they have non-shedding hair and are great for people with allergies. Guaranteed! Cuteness and all else aside, temperament is their #1 feature.
So what is it that makes these dogs so special?
Those who live with them describe them to be the best dog they have
ever owned. Most will tell you that they have had very good dogs in
the past, but these are different from the other dogs they have lived
with. They are more “into you.”
They also say that Daisy Dogs don’t have a typical small dog personality… what they mean by this is that Daisy Dogs are not persnickety little ankle biters, not yippy or yappy, nor snippy or snappy. They don’t tend to be hyper as pups or adults. They are very convenient pets, portable for travel and fit nicely in your lap. An added bonus: These folks are thrilled to be living with no shedding! no doggy odor! no slobber!
It sure is a Dogs Life

I love this pic. Our daughter took this a few days ago when Daisy could hear someone coming to the front door.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
Last night my daughter Gaby and i went up to Brisbane to see the musical
MARY POPPINS.
As most young girls, this was always a favorite of mine and WOW what a show.
We left the Gold Coast around 430pm which was giving us plenty of time to get through peak hr traffic and have dinner.
Of course i took the Elizabeth st exit and BAM i was stuck right in the middle of the city in the crazy traffic. So that took me about 40 mins to do a loop and get back over the Victoria Bridge to QPAC. We finally arrive at the theatre around 630pm. Just enough time to grab a quick bite to eat and make our way to our seats.
We were seated in the middle of centre stage front row of the highest tier. Not the best seats but seats. Of course i got in trouble for taking photos inside the theatre. (didn't stop me of course)
Here we are. I took about 10 pics before i approved of this pic.
Perfect in every way
How perfect Verity was for the role of Mary Poppins.
BERT - "I does what i likes...and i likes what i do"
Again Matt was the perfect choice for the role of Bert. The casting was spot on for all the characters.
This act had me wanting to sing along.
STEP IN TIME
Never need a reason, never need a rhyme, never need a reason "Step in time"
Anything can happen if you let it
This is at the finale when Mary Poppins fly's over the top of us and into the night sky/ceiling and disappears.
I look forward to the next musical coming our way...

The joys of apartment living
NOT
At 3:14am this morning we all woke to the fire alarm. Kids jumped out of bed and rushed to the door. I fussed around to work out what to wear ie: stay in my nighty (yes i wear a nighty) or quickly throw on shorts and a top. The dog was crying as i am sure the high pitch sounds we not good for her.
Husband layed in bed thinking it was my phone alarm and was about to yell at me for having it up so loud.
I went out on the the balcony and yelled out to the fireman if we needed to evacuate and he answered back NO.
WTF
So back to bed and all i kept thinking of, was i have to get up in an hour or so. I am sure as soon as i got back to sleep my alarm went off at 4:50am and my day began...
Of course the kids found it hard to wake up. We all still managed to be out the door by 7.45am.
School drop off done and we headed straight up to the block to see if the water proof guy was there.
and
YES they were.
They said it would take 2 days to complete. Fingers are crossed again that the rain holds off.
Happy days,

One more sleep
If we can get through tonight with no rain. It is WATER PROOFING day tomorrow.
This has been a massive problem with the progress of the build. As until the area around what they have done now is water tight nothing can be done. If it is left damp and the builder continues on that will leave way for the walls to rot over time and i am sure a heap of other problems to.
So let's hope tomorrow brings loads of sunshine and everything gets going.
LET THE SUN SHINE

All dry here, but you can see the marks where the water as been laying with all the rain we have had in the past months
Little damp here still
Not sure about this part of the house as it is very hard to get to, to try to remove any damp earth.
Dry as a bone around the edge of the house
Still a bit of water lying around but nothing that will stop the water proofing being done
