Leadership

Yesterday our eldest son Jack received his Yr 7 Leadership Badge.
At our school Yr 7 is still at the Primary School. So they are the head of the school.
This is all changing in 2014 when QLD comes in line with NSW and Yr 7 will be the first year of Highschool.

Instead of having Captains & Prefects the whole of year 7 receive a Leadership Badge which they are to wear with pride and look after all the younger students throughout the year etc....
I really like this idea it is such a great confidence builder.

The school hold an assembly for the giving of their badges and they have to make a pledge after the badges are blessed.

Here is their Pledge:

Lord, teach us to be generous in serving you:
to give ourselves, our talents and our time without complaining;

to try to do good, even when it is difficult;
to be interested in helping others without giving up;

to spend this year in a spirit of giving
that we may live in joy and peace with you and with each other.
AMEN.

I am so not big on religion but it was a really special morning for them all.

I love the flags

Here is Jack (on the right of the candle) slouching & the poor little Preppies all not interested.

Jack receiving his badge

After the assembly the year 7s lined up and gave the school a guard of honour as a gesture of "we will take care of you all throughout the year" as in return the school will do the same to them at the end of the year wishing them Goodluck in highschool.

There is James my youngest giving everyone a hand slap

Here is is not even realizing i am right in front of him until he goes past me and i have to call him back

Our Jack is on the end on your right. They were all a bit excited. I was trying to get them to give me a good serious shot.

And it still didn't happen on the second attempt

Here we go! I got a good one this time. Here is Jacks teacher Jackson Elliott. Mr Elliott will be trying out for the London Olympic Squad soon for the 5000m run. (5km run) Which i am assuming if he is selected he will have to leave the school and go into full time training (not sure about that one, i certainly hope not) I mean, i hope he is selected but i hope that means he doesn't have to stop teaching as he is such a respected teacher and Jack is really excited to have him this year.
 Good on you Jack, let's hope Year 7 is a great year for you and you achieve all your goals.

I love my kids as we all do. Jack is our middle child and there is many many days when all i seem to say is "Jack....Jack...JACK"     you get the idea.
Yesterday was one of the days a didn't. x
