James is our 3rd child and our youngest.
Each pregnancy we never found out what sex the babies were. I loved waiting until they were born. BEST MOMENTS EVER!!
So when our James arrived. We had no name for him for a day or two. As i was so sure he was going to be a girl. I used to think GOSH how can people not name their child straight away. However. Jason wanted our first son Jack to be named James but i was adamant that i was not having a Jimmy Barn
So when number 2 son (James) came along. I had the name Samuel picked out. I am sure everyone was praying for a girl as none of my family liked the name Samuel. Jason was still set on calling him James so he was BABY BARNS until mum talked to me about family names and James has been in our family for many generations. So i was sold BUT under no circumstance was he to be called JIMMY.
James is in Grade 4 this year and the last few years he has started to get "Jimmy" from the PE teachers and a few male teachers at the school. He likes it. Of course the the kids are calling him Jimmy now or he just gets "Barnsy".
His teacher this year has three James' in the class so at the start of the year when he came home with all his books to be covered they had Jimmy Barns written all over them. I was horrified. He said he liked it and it was easier for the teacher.
James is popular at school with teachers and students and has a great bunch of mates.
He went to the school disco the other night & said that all the girls followed him and even waited outside the boys toilets when he was in there. lol
LOVE IT!!!!! Love those crazy girls...
James loves his sports. He is mad about Rugby League. He plays extremely well.
He is in Under 10s for Burleigh Bears this year. They don't actually play competition footy until next yr in un11s so he is busting for that as he is so very competitive.

I am so glad we had a 3rd child and i am so glad we named him JAMES.
He is a great little kid with a huge heart.
I love him so much... He too always gives his mum a kiss every night before bed but he wants a hug to go with it.

Beautiful post Pen. What a great story to retell at Jimmy's 21st. Which believe me, will come around quicker than you want it too! They grow up way too fast! You had said the kids names on a number of occasions and I had never clicked with the 'Jimmy' connection! Very cool! Happy Mother's Day.
